Dead Phone, No GPS, Distracted Driver in an Accident (Sandy Springs)

On September 6th, 2024, Ariel Brunell and Kara Novak were involved in an auto accident on Peachtree Dunwoody Rd at its intersection with Mt Vernon highway.

Brunell stated to police that while driving east on Mt Vernon highway she became unfamiliar with the area and her phone was dead so she could not use the GPS. She says she became distracted and did not notice the red traffic signal at the upcoming intersection and was subsequently struck by Novak's vehicle, both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Burnell was found at fault for the accident and was cited with Distracted Driving.
