Rear End Accident on Fayetteville Road (Douglasville)

On June 29, 2021, Officer S Justus was dispatched to the scene of an accident at Tara Boulevard south of Fayetteville Road.

The accident occurred at 12:10.

Mr. N Duke was driving a Ford Mustang and Ms. T James was driving a Dodge Challenger SXT.

Both vehicles were traveling north on Tara Boulevard.

Mr. Duke stated that as he approached the intersection of Fayetteville Road, he noticed that traffic had come to a stop despite a green traffic signal.

He applied his brakes but was unable to avoid a rear-end collision with Ms. James’ vehicle.

Ms. James stated that as she approached the intersection, traffic had suddenly stopped in front of her, despite the green traffic signal.

She bought her vehicle to a stop but was rear-ended by Mr. Duke’s vehicle.

Mr. Duke further stated that he believed the traffic had stopped due to a funeral procession passing through the intersection.

Ms. James complained of injury but was not taken for medical treatment.

Mr. Duke’s vehicle sustained extensive damage and was removed by Tara Wrecker.

Ms. James’ vehicle sustained moderate damage and was removed by herself.

Mr. Duke was cited in terms of O.C.G.A. 40-6-49 “Following too closely”.

The weather was cloudy, and the surface condition and light condition were good.

The accident was reported in Jonesboro, Clayton County.
